18 is an adult, 14 theyve gone through puberty beginings and so their voice no longer sounds the childish coice of a 12 year old. in my opinion their is a huge difference between 12 and 14 and im not talking just the 2 years difference. a lot of books ive read are childrens books and yet the marrator sounds like they are an 18 year old trying to pass as the sound of a 14 year old or even a 12 year old. the narator sounds as though she is 12 or 13 and thats perfect for a kids book. we arent sure how old ruby is supposed to be, but however old she is its when elephants get their tusks and it means they are growing up. The narrator isnt a baby like ruby the elephant was when she was telling all her past stories.
